A fraudulent email is currently circulating, claiming that applicants have been shortlisted for a job vacancy at the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) and requesting a payment of ₦1,250 for “consultancy clearance.”
The email instructs recipients to pay this amount to a supposed Federal Government Human Resource Consultant before receiving a “posting letter” for employment at one of four government agencies. It even includes a link labeled Click Here and emphasizes that payment must be made to secure the job offer.

The CDCFIB has officially stated that shortlisting has not yet begun. According to their public notice:
“We are yet to commence shortlisting. The portal is still collecting applications until Monday, 11th August 2025. Please note that the recruitment process is absolutely FREE at all stages. Beware of fraudsters.”

Legitimate federal government recruitment never requires payment at any stage. Any request for money in exchange for job placement is a scam.

The scam email uses generic greetings like “Prospective Employee” instead of addressing applicants by name, a common red flag in phishing attempts.
