A message circulating widely on WhatsApp and other social media platforms claims that OPay is giving ₦10,000 to customers as an “End of the Year Cash Grant 2025.” The post urges users to click a shortened link, answer a few questions, and share the link on WhatsApp to receive the money instantly. This claim is misleading and dangerous.

Verification
There is no official announcement from OPay supporting this offer. Checks on OPay’s verified website, mobile app, and official social media accounts show no promotion or cash grant of this nature. OPay typically announces genuine promotions directly within its app or through its verified channels—not via random links shared on WhatsApp.

Red Flags Identified
The link provided (https://cut-ly.com/end-of-year-bonus) is a shortened URL, commonly used by scammers to hide the final destination. The instruction to “share with others” before receiving payment is a classic scam tactic designed to increase reach. Claims like “I just got mine” are social-engineering tricks meant to create false trust and urgency.

What the Link Does
Such links usually redirect users to fake survey pages or phishing sites that collect personal information, including phone numbers and sometimes banking details. In some cases, victims are later asked to pay a “processing” or “verification” fee, or their data is reused for further scams.

The Facts
OPay is not running a ₦10,000 End-of-Year Cash Grant for customers in 2025. The message and link are part of a malicious scam campaign aimed at harvesting data and spreading fraud through WhatsApp sharing.

Verdict: ❌ False / Scam
Nigerians are advised not to click the link, not to share it, and to rely only on OPay’s official app and verified communication channels for legitimate offers.
